Perhaps no other public health crisis exposes so well whether science and society are generally on the same page when it comes to scientific recommendations and advice about health than a pandemic. Lessons learned under these most extreme of conditions will support better collaboration not only in other pandemics but for any campaign targeting public response or acceptance. The EU-funded PandeVITA project will develop an app by the same name collecting and evaluating the societal awareness and acceptance of scientific guidance during the COVID-19 pandemic to better engage the public in related measures
