In this study, flotation behavior of low grade dry ground gold ore was investigated
comparatively without (collectorless) and with collector. The effects of pH and frother dosages were
studied in collectorless flotation. Lime was used to adjust pH and AF70 was employed as a frother.
Flotation tests with collector, potassium amyl xanthate (PAX), were performed at optimum conditions
determined in collectorless flotation. Based on the results of those rougher flotation tests, open circuit
flotation tests were carried out with and without (collectorless) collector. Final concentrate containing
112.39 g/t Au 12.11% Cu 13.72% Fe and 12.27% S were obtained with recoveries of 53.79% 38.64%,
1.78% and 5.71%, respectively in the case of collectorless flotation while obtaining a final concentrate
having 85.80 g/t Au, 9.59% Cu, 35.16% Fe and 36.45% S with recoveries of 59.14%, 46.12%, 6.81% and
25.54% flotation with collector. It was also possible to obtain alternative final concentrate containing
221.57 g/t Au, 21.08 % Cu, 19.41% Fe and 21.32% S with recoveries of 43.89%, 31.55%, 0.99% and
4.22%, respectively by lowering the frother dosage in collectorless flotation.
