In this work, the concentration of an oxidized gold ore was investigated using a Knelson concentrator. The effects of Knelson concentrator parameters such as centrifugal force, feed rate, wash water, and solid content on the separation performance were investigated by a set of tests. As a result of test studies, feed rate and wash water were determined to be the most effective parameters for Au recovery and grade. By prioritizing Au grade, optimal parameters were found to be 60 g, 250 rpm, 3 I/min, and 40% for GF, WW, FR, and SR, respectively. A concentrate having a 44.4 g/t Au grade and 70.8% Au recovery was obtained under the optimal conditions. In addition, bottle roll tests were conducted on fresh ore and KC tailings obtained under determined conditions. As a result of bottle roll tests, it was found that gravity concentration prior to leaching lowered both retention time and cyanide consumption from 48 hours to 10 hours and 0.76 kg/mt to 0.50 kg/mt, respectively.
