CASP 2022 Istanbul 2nd International Conference and Exhibition on Corrosion and Surface Protection for Steel, İstanbul, Türkiye, 25 - 26 Mayıs 2022
Developing
population and increasing housing need cause the proliferation of reinforced
concrete structures. On the one hand, while trying to build durable structures,
on the other hand, environmental solutions are sought. When the literature
studies are examined, it is stated that corrosion is primarily an environmental
pollutant. In general, corrosion inhibitors are used because they are more
economical and application methods are easier. It is stated that corrosion
inhibitors may show toxic effects during production, use or disposal. The aim
of this article is to investigate the effects of eco-friendly green corrosion
inhibitors, apart from the common methods used against corrosion, which
adversely affects the durability of reinforced concrete structures. When the
literature studies are examined, it is seen that eco-friendly green corrosion
inhibitors are obtained from various plant extracts, oils, biopolymers and
nature.
In
this study, the effects of green corrosion inhibitors on reinforcement
corrosion as well as the effects on cement mortars are examined.
Electrochemical corrosion measurement methods on the reinforcement are
examined, as well as weight losses are determined. In cementitious mortars, on
the other hand, mechanical properties, durability losses in aggressive medium
conditions and microstructure studies are investigated. Thus, it is aimed to
examine the eco-friendly green corrosion inhibitors in concrete and steel
reinforcement in reinforced concrete structures. When the results are examined,
the methods of obtaining the environmentally friendly green corrosion
inhibitors and their optimum dosages are determined.
