Depending upon the increasing vehicle demand and
developing transport sector in the World, the tire fabrication has been
accelerated. That causes the very increasing amount scrap tire at the end of
physical and economical life of these used tires. Controlling of the storage
and recycling of the scrap tire is a very important for the sustainable
environment. In order to eliminate the negative effect of scrap tires to the
environment, they can be utilized after several industrial treatments with four
general methods like direct utilization, utilization as material, thermal
utilization and utilization as raw material. The main purpose of this study to
use recycled tire rubber in concrete mixtures to produce rubberized concrete.
Using scrap tire as aggregate in concrete increases the ductility and the
capacity to absorb energy of the concrete. By replacing aggregates with
relatively weaker scrap tire mechanical properties supposed to be reduced.
However, some durability properties of concrete are increased such as
freeze-thaw resistance by using scrap tire in concrete. The use of scrap tire
in concrete mixtures not only help to save the environment from a very
dangerous waste material but can also improve certain properties of concrete
for particular design applications.
