Even a quick review of the relevant literature reveals that there are different factors affecting the STEM career
choices of students who have experiences with STEM courses and activities. In the current study, a literature
review was conducted focusing on the factors affecting students' STEM career choices, and as a result, a large
number of studies were found, especially showing results to the detriment of girls. In order to find answers to
these problems, it was envisaged that there was a need for a study that offered some solutions based on the
Social Cognitive Career theory framework and semi-structured interviews were conducted with various field
experts. These experts are "psychological counselling and guidance clinical psychologists, clinical psychology,
psychiatry, educational sciences and scientific studies in the field of career counselling for women. All the data
obtained were analysed by content analysis method and as a result, a suggestion chart was developed to meet
each pillar of the theory. The current research is especially important in terms of providing critical suggestions to
break the barriers for talented girls to step into STEM professions.
