Özet

© 2018. Milli Egitim. All Rights Reserved. The aim of this study was to examine teacher candidates’ entrepreneurship levels based on certain variables (i.e. gender, major, status of living with family or not, family income, educational status of parents, and work experience). Survey model was adopted in the study, and accordingly, the “Entrepreneurship Scale for Teacher Candidates (ESTC)” developed by Çepni and Deveci (2015) was administered to participants studying science teaching, elementary mathematics, elementary education, teaching the mentally handicapped, and guidance and psychological counselling at the education faculties of four state universities (Eskisehir Osmangazi University, Anadolu University, Usak University and Inonu University) in the spring semester of the 2016-2017 academic year. The participants were 488 teacher candidates who were third and fourth year undergraduate students. The lowest Cronbach’s Alpha reliability coefficient calculated for the whole scale is.77, and the coefficient obtained in this study was.92. The data were analysed by using SPSS, and suggestions were offered based on the interpretations and results. The study is thought to contribute to teacher education at education faculties, and have significance in terms of providing data on, and interpreting, teacher candidates’ entrepreneurial characteristics. The results revealed that the teacher candidates’ status of living with family or not, parents’ educational status and family income did not affect their entrepreneurship levels. However, their levels were found to be related to gender, major and work experience.
