fuel cell is a device that converts the chemical energy of the fuel directly into electrical energy as a result of an electrochemical reaction. It produces electricity with externally supplied fuel (anode side) and oxidizer (cathode side). The reactants react in an electrolyte/electrode unit. Usually, the reactants enter the cell while the reaction products leave the cell. Fuel cells can run indefinitely as long as the required fuel and oxidizer flow is provided.
