Özet

Nanotechnology has emerged as a transformative tool in modern horticulture, offering significant advancements in plant nutrition, crop protection, stress tolerance, and postharvest handling. However, alongside its benefits, concerns have been raised regarding the environmental fate and ecological risks associated with nanomaterials. This chapter provides an overview of the environmental impacts of nanotechnology applications in horticulture. It aims to explore the interactions of nanoparticles with plants, soil, microorganisms, water, and air, while discussing both positive and potential toxicological effects of nanotechnology applications. Additionally, current regulations and risk assessment approaches are discussed. Discussions in this chapter show the necessity for standardized protocols and interdisciplinary research. The chapter concludes by suggesting policy recommendations and future research directions for nanotechnological applications in horticultural practices.
