Failure in Aircraft Materials, Selim Gürgen, Editör, Springer, London/Berlin , Zug, ss.1-12, 2024
The aircraft and aerospace components that are in motion and affected by wear on them are significant. The high reliability requirements of these components that work in harsh environments increase the importance of wear. In order to prevent wear on these components, liquid lubricants are not adequate in some conditions. Thus, solid lubricants are used. Solid lubricants, with their ability to maintain lubrication in inaccessible or harder-to-reach areas of an aircraft or spacecraft, are vital. In this study, lamellar solid lubricants were investigated. The discourse revolved around the mechanisms of lubrication and wear prevention. The research was conducted to analyze the effects of burnishing AISI 4140 steel with the solid lubricant hexagonal boron nitride. The results show that the friction coefficient of the component was reduced by 5.7%. The improvements in tribological characteristics were discussed, and future improvements were investigated.
