Dressing skills is one of the necessary self-care skills for helping individuals with disabilities to function independently. Although, in most of the cases individuals with normal development learn dressing skills by themselves, individuals with disabilities can not learn dressing skills without having systematic instruction. Hence, providing instruction about dressing skills is one of the main purposes of educational services provided to them. The purpose of the present study is to gather information about procedures and implementations of teaching dressing skills in published studies from 1965 to 2005. American Journal of Mental Deficiency, Applied Research in Mental Retardation, Education and Training in Mental Retardation, Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, Journal of Behavioral Education, Journal of Developmental and Physical Disabilities, Journal of Early Intervention, Journal of Mental Deficiency, Mental Retardation, Research in Developmental Disabilities, Teaching Exceptional Children were reviewed. While reviewing the studies, "individuals with disabilities, individuals with special needs, dressing skills, self-dressing, teaching dressing skills and self-care skills" were used as key words. Studies regarding dressing skills are summarized and criticized in the present study and recommendations for the future research studies and practices are provided.
