Özet

In this study the optimal damper distribution is investigated on two steel frames with set-back irregularities. Linear time-history analyses has been performed on steel frames with tensile strains due to set-back irregulaties. A simplified sequential search algorithm is used to determine the optimal viscous damper distribution. As a result of analysis, maximum axial force, shear force and bending moment values in the columns, relative floor displacement rates for the floors, base shear forces are investigated and it has been attempted to show how the optimum distribution is different from the uniform distribution. As a result of numerical study it has been seen that the optimal damper distribution gives more positive results than the uniform distribution even though the total damper size does not change.
