Burn is one of the major causes of medical and social trauma caused by heat, electric, chemical agent and radioation injury. Nowadays, there is a serious burn care and treatment unit center deficiency in our country. Currently, there are no certain epidemiologic datas about burn cases and its statistics. Our burn unit was established in 1996. We tried to present our national data assited with our worthless experience by ten years. Between January 1998 and December 2007, burned patiens were included to the study. All data were selected retrospectively included such as patient file, computer records and their surgeries and recored. Seven hundred sixty one patients were treated between these dates. Age interval was between 0-12; 13-18; 19-59, and 60+ years for pediatric, young adult; adult; and geriatric age groups, respectively. A classification was arranged when the evaluation according etiological reasons considered such as: 1-Burning with flame. 2-boiling burns 3-electrical burns and 4-chemical and other burns. In pediatric and geriatric group, the most important factor has been found burning type as boiling. This must be decreased by increasing with further education and reforming of working conditions. In adult and young adult groups, we have established that major cause is as an electrical burns, this situtaion can be lowered thanks to take an attention of the job security situtaion.
