Özet

Uludağ, located in our country, is one of these important refuges in terms of containing endemic species adapted to extreme environmental conditions. Family Chironomidae, one of the most common groups of macroinvertebrates, is widely used in studies to determine the water quality of lakes and rivers due to their bioindicator properties. Within the scope of this study, it was aimed to determine the Chironomidae fauna of Karagöl, Heybeli Lake and Kilimli Lake, which are the glacial lakes of Uludağ located within the borders of Bursa province in the Marmara region. Benthic macroinvertebrate samples were collected from Karagöl, Lake Heybeli and Lake Kilimli in October 2023. A total of 3,284 macroinvertebrate individuals belonging to 12 taxa were identified from the collected samples. As a result of the study, total 12 Chironomidae species belonging to 4 subfamilies which are Tanypodinae, Orthocladiinae, Chironominae and Tanytarsini) Procladius (Holotanypus) sp., Macropelopia sp., M. nebulosa, Psectrocladius (Psectrocladius) sordidellus, Chironomus dorsalis, C. plumosus, C. (Camptoch) tentans, C. anthracinus, Tanytarsus sp., T. gregarius, Paratanytarsus lauterborni and Micropsectra junci were identified. Among these species, P. (Holotanypus) sp. and Tanytarsus sp. were determined as the most dominant species. P. (Holotanypus) sp. and Tanytarsus sp. have important functions in terms of ecosystem services. The presence of these species helps to maintain the long-term health of ecosystems by contributing to the sustainability of the food chain as well as determining water quality. While all the species identified in the study are new records for Kilimli Lake and Heybeli Lake, P. (P.) sordidellus, M. nebulosa, T. gregarius, Tanytarsus sp. and M. junci species are new records for Karagöl. Thus, the number of species belonging to the Chironomidae family of the lakes increased from 5 to 10.
