Özet
Renal biopsy is an invasive procedure commonly utilized in nephrology practice for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. The evaluation of native and allograft renal biopsies requires distinct approaches; thus, biopsies must be submitted to the pathology laboratory accompanied by comprehensive clinical information. Accurate diagnosis depends on detailed clinical data, appropriate differential diagnoses, proper biopsy technique, correct transport, precise macroscopic evaluation, immunofluorescence (IF) studies, and, if necessary, electron microscopy (EM). Optimal tissue processing, including fixation, sectioning, special staining, and most importantly, interpretation by an experienced nephropathologist, are essential components of the diagnostic process. This section describes the kidney biopsy procedure, special stains applied to biopsy material, and the evaluation of biopsy findings in detail.
