ABSTRACT
Coordination polymers (CPs) with entangled architectures have attracted
considerable attention in the recent past. This can be attributed to their
diverse structural topologies and their possible applications in the field of
gas adsorption and separation, luminescence, drug delivery and catalysis. It
has already been established that factors, such as the type organic ligands,
metal centers, pH values, reaction time, reaction temperatures and solvents have
a profound influence on the final structure of these polymeric compounds [1-2].
Among these factors, organic ligands play the most crucial role in the process
used to synthesize CPs.
In this study, [Zn2(μ4-L1)(μ-p-bmeix)2]n
(1) and [Zn2(μ4-L2)(DMF)2(μ-p-bisopix)]n
(2) complexes were synthesized with solvothermal
method by using 5,5'-(2-butane-1,4-diyl)-bis(oxy)diisophthalic acid (H4L1),
5,5'-(2-butene-1,4-diyl)-bis(oxy)diisophthalic acid (H4L2),
1,4-bis((2-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene (p-bmeix), 1,4-bis((2-isopropyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl)benzene
(p-bisopix). The structures of the complexes have been characterized by
elemental analysis, spectroscopic (FTIR), thermal analysis methods (TG/DTA),
single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction studies.
Intercalary, the thermal and luminescence properties of the complexes were determined. Optical band gaps were calculated with the Kubelka-Munk equation by measuring the UV spectra and reflectance of solid materials with diffuse reflectance. Topological analyses were performed using ToposPro software.
