Cu-Ag Alloy Process Using the Thermionic Vacuum Arc System

Abstract

By using a new type of plasma discharge, thermionic vacuum arc (TVA), Cu-Ag alloys were prepared successfully. Cu-Ag alloys in various mass ratios were prepared by using the TVA and Cu-Ag alloy thin …lms with various mass ratios were deposited onto the glass sub-strates by using their TVA discharges. The ratios of Cu and Ag in the thin Cu-Ag alloy …lms were found using the Scanning Electron Microscope-Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectrometer (SEM-EDX). Cu-Ag mixtures in the crucible after alloying process were analyzed by X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). Spectroscopic analyses of Cu-Ag TVA discharges were also investigated by using Optical Emission Spectroscopy (OES).
