Cryptocephalus (Heterichnus) loebli Sassi, 1997 is a poorly known species which was collected from north-western part of Turkey and described based on only two specimens. The nomenclatural history and current status of the subgenus Heterichnus Warchatowski, 1991 are reviewed.
