The study examines the extent to which the proportional representation system used in Turkiye provides proportional representation. In the first stage of the study, election results were simulated using four different seat allocation methods, including the d'Hondt method used in the 2023 general elections, as well as the Sainte-Lague, Scandinavian Sainte-Lague, Hare, and Droop methods. In the second stage, the Impact of district magnitude on proportional representation was examined. For this purpose, four different scenarios were created in addition to the current size of electoral districts, including Narrowed-5, Narrowed-7, NUTS-1, and NUTS-2. Indices of disproportionality were used to evaluate both stages. After concluding that the current system in Turkiye is insufficient for providing proportional representation, alternatives such as replacing the current method with more equitable methods or expanding electoral districts were proposed.
