Invasivecandidiasis is an importantcause ofseriousmorbidityandmortality among oncologicandhematologicmalignancies, HIV infected patients, premature infants, patients with primaryimmunodeficiencies, prolongedneutropenia, diabetes mellitus, patients with centralcatheters, patients following in intensive care units, taking TPN, receivingbroadspectrum antibiotictherapy. There is an increase in nonalbicans Candida species, mortality rates and antifungal drug resistance.Although there arenewoptions indiagnosis, yetthere is not sucha diagnostic marker inchildhood withhighsensitivityorspecificity. Further studies and dedicated guidelines about the risk factors, prophylaxisandtreatmentoptionsof invasive candidiasis in children withhematologicandoncologicmalignancies, bone marrow transplantation andsolidorgantransplantation, newbornandpediatric intensivecareunit.
