The incidence of gestational trophoblastic disease increases significantly in the late reproductive period. However, some cases, especially those in the perimenopausal period, may be treated by inappropriate methods due to misdiagnosis. A 52 year-old case with persistent mole hydatidiform, who had undergone laparotomy for the misdiagnosis of intraabdominal liposarcoma, was presented and the differential diagnosis of gestational trophoblastic disease was discussed in this report.
