In the history of Turcology, historical Turkic language studies have focused rather on phonology and morphology, and there are not many studies on semantics. Especially the number of semantic studies about the Old Turkic period, in which we have witnessed the first written texts of the Turkish language, is very few. However, the diversity of meanings expressed by words, phrases or lexical bundles and syntactic strings in the Turkic runic inscriptions and the Manichaean and Buddhist texts which left over from the Uighurs, necessitates the examination of the texts of this period in terms of semantics. Because especially the meanings of words and phrases have moved away from the meanings in which the words first appeared or formed and gained new meanings suitable for their concept areas. Monitoring the semantic ways in which words reach the target meanings from their source meanings in the Turkish language and determining the metaphors and metaphorical maps will contribute to the semantic research of the Turkish language on the one hand, and on the other hand, the principles, and methods of creating new words by these means will be determined.
