Özet

Perineal trauma seen very often during delivery can be described as the wound that occurs during the delivery or in genital region incision surgery. Social, physical, psycological life, occupational, sexual life of the individuals can be affected because of perineal trauma. Episiotomy that is made very often during vaginal deliveries and the tears that appeared can affect the woman and her partner's sexual life because of unwanted effects it causes in short or long term. It can be the reason of temporary or long lasting functional corruptive alteratrions in woman's micturition and fecal excretion and delay the mother-baby interaction. Perineal trauma can also bring forth long term results as painful sexual intercourse, urinary and fecal incontinence, and continual perineal pain. Some researches show that women whose perines is are intact have less distress. That is why to protect the integrity of perineal structures alternative methods should be considered important and evidence based researches that put forward the effectiveness of these methods should be done. Moreover, the use of limited episiotomy instead of routine extended episiotomies can lessen the number of perineal traumas.
