This study examines the relationship between the intrinsic and extrinsic religious orientations of Muslim-Turkish immigrants living in the Netherlands and their psychopathological symptoms. The research data were obtained in 2025 from a sample of 555 participants. During the data collection process, the “Age-Universal Religious Orientation Scale” and the “Brief Symptom Inventory” were used; the obtained data were analyzed in SPSS 26.0 using correlation and independent-samples t-test analyses. The study predicted that intrinsic religious orientation would be associated with lower levels of psychopathological symptoms, whereas extrinsic religious orientation would be associated with higher levels of psychopathological symptoms. The findings showed that intrinsic religious orientation was negatively associated with some dimensions of psychopathological symptoms, whereas extrinsic religious orientation was positively associated with psychopathological symptoms.
