Objective: Warts are benign proliferations of Skin caused by human papilloma virus (HPV). The aim of present study is to search the prevalence of warts among a group of school chil dren. Material and Methods: A questionnaire was sent to the parents of 650 primary school chil dren in order to find the prevalence of wart. Four hundred and two parents answered the questionnaire and their children were examined by dermatologists. Restilts: The prevalence of wart found to be lO.9%. No positive relation was detected between wart and gender and age. In 68.2% of the children, the warts were located on hands. There was a significant correlation between the presence of a family member who wears slipper and attend to Turkish bath regularly and prevalence of wart. Only 13% of children had visited the doctor to treat their warts previously. Conclusion: The present search showed that wart is a frequent problem in research group. This frequency was above the expected rate for primary school children. Therefore other field searches in places with differ ent socioeconomic status should be done in order to find out the real frequency in our country. Copyright © 2013 by Türkiye Klinikleri.
