Background: COVID-19 has a variable clinical course in children. Although it mostly causes asymptomatic or minor symptoms, it rarely causes serious disease. Fever, cough, respiratory distress, and sore throat are among the most frequent symptoms in children. Although rare, it can cause other system symptoms. A case of testicular pain, a very rare symptom of COVID-19, is presented here.
Case: A 12-year-old boy presented with testicular pain. From history, 3 days ago, the pain began in the testicles and gradually increased, with no history of dysuria, fever, abdominal pain, cough, or trauma.The patient did not have swelling, redness in the testicles during the physical examination, and there were no abnormal findings in the examination of other systems. COVID-19 PCR test performed on the patient, whose history of close contact with COVID-19, was found to be positive. Hemoglobin 12.2 g/dL, leukocyte 11.550/mm3, thrombocyte 287.000/mm3, C-reactive protein 0,5 mg/L , biochemical parameters and urine test were normal.No evidence of epididymitis, orchitis or bleeding was found in the testis ultrasonography. Paracetamol was started in the patient who had no symptoms other than testicular pain. On the third day of care, the patient whose testicular pain symptoms had already regressed was advised to undergo home isolation.
Conclusions:COVID-19 induces a wide range of symptoms in pediatric patients. Ranging from minor
upper respiratory tract infections to extreme respiratory failure.
Results: During the pandemic, all patients' contact histories should be asked. : And it should not be forgotten that COVID -19 will cause unusual symptoms.
