This study aims to critically analyze the sociolinguistic theses produced in Turkiye, examining their thematic, academic, and methodological tendencies while identifying key challenges and areas for improvement. The research is based on a systematic review of master's and doctoral theses available in the YÖK National Thesis Center, selected using specific sociolinguistic keywords. The findings indicate that sociolinguistic research in Turkey is concentrated in a limited number of universities, particularly Hacettepe University and Dicle University, with relatively few studies produced in other institutions. The thematic analysis reveals that studies on the relationship between language and culture remain largely confined to historical perspectives, neglecting contemporary issues such as digital culture, globalization, and multilingual communication. Similarly, research on gender and language tends to focus on linguistic stereotypes rather than exploring their transformation over time. Studies on bilingualism and multilingualism primarily examine individual language use, often overlooking the socio-economic and political implications of language policies. Methodologically, most theses adopt qualitative approaches, with discourse analysis and ethnographic methods being widely employed, while quantitative studies, computational linguistics, and experimental methods remain underutilized. This study suggests that future sociolinguistic research in Turkey should embrace interdisciplinary perspectives, integrate digital and computational methods, and expand its methodological diversity to strengthen its academic contributions and international recognition.
