Durability of Mortars Containing CN Corrosion Inhibitor at The Effect of MgSO4

Özet

One of the reasons that reduce the durability of reinforced concrete structures is corrosion. Although various methods are applied to prevent reinforcement corrosion, the most interesting are inhibitors. Inhibitors are of interest in preventing corrosion due to both their economically and ease of use in practice. The most widely used of these was the calcium nitrite-containing inhibitor. However, it is possible for the reinforced concrete structure using CN inhibitor to meet with different environmental effects. One of them is the effect that may occur against sulfate ions. The effect of the mortar structure using CN inhibitor against sulfate attack was investigated in this study. Without reinforcement, only the effect of durability on the mortar structure was investigated. In this study, an inorganic calcium nitrite (CN)-containing inhibitor added to the mortar during production was used. CN ratio was used between 1% and 2% of cement weight. In addition, control samples without inhibitor were produced. In all samples, the water/cement ratio (0.50) was taken. 0-4 mm limestone crushed sand was used. The samples were kept in 5% MgSO4 solution containing sulfate ions for 7, 28, 90 and 180 days in accordance with ASTM C 1012. Ultrasonic pulse velocity test, unit weight, compressive and flexure strength tests were applied on the samples exposed to sulfate effect. When the test results were examined, 0.5% strength loss was observed at the 180th day in the use of 1% CN inhibitor. FE-SEM microstructure examinations were performed on the samples exposed to the sulfate effect.
