Özet

The use of inadequate materials in restoration of historical buildings leads to loses in historical

properties of construction. Consequently, the materials used in restoration of historical constructions

have to be similar with the original materials. Khorosan mortar widely used in ancient times is

lightweight material that has adequate strength and workability. In this study, the various type and

ratio of polypropylene fibers, tile powder, slaked lime and water were mixed to prepare Khorasan

mortars, and physical and mechanical properties of specimens were investigated. The unit weight,

ultrasonic pulse velocity, flexural and compressive strength of specimens was determined. Due to

experimental results, the use of polypropylene fibers at high ratio in Khorasan mortar led to increase

in flexural strength and decrease in compressive strength. The increase in polypropylene fiber length

led to increase in flexural strength and decrease in compressive strength. The ratio of tile powder/lime

was determined as 4, and adequate experimental results were obtained by 0-1 mm tile powder. To

obtain adequate strength, polypropylene fiber at the ratio of 3% and length of 12 mm was found

appropriate.
