This
study aimed to determine the effects of chitosan and melatonin applications on
the leaf nutrient contents of Skeena and Regina sweet cherry cultivars under
the ecological conditions of Mihalıççık, Eskişehir. Treatments were applied to
8-year-old Regina and 12-year-old Skeena trees at 0, 50, 100, and 150 ppm, and
macro–micro nutrient contents were analyzed. In the chitosan treatment, N
fluctuated irregularly in Skeena, P remained stable, K reached its highest
level at 150 ppm, and Ca was consistently lower than the control. Fe, Cu, Zn,
and Mn decreased at higher doses. In the melatonin treatment, N, P, K, Ca, Mg,
and Fe increased, whereas Cu, Zn, and Mn remained below the control. Regina
showed similar responses to chitosan as Skeena; Fe increased at high doses, and
Zn rose with increasing concentrations. Under melatonin treatment, N decreased
in Regina while P, K, Mg, and Zn increased. Overall, melatonin may serve as a
potential biofertilizer by improving leaf nutrient composition. However,
repeated trials are recommended for more consistent results, especially for Cu,
Zn, and Mn. This study is part of the master’s thesis of Muhammet Doğukan Arce,
supervised by Volkan Okatan. The research was supported by the Scientific
Research Projects Coordination Unit of Eskişehir Osmangazi University (Project
