The Effect of Metal Salts on The Structures of 2,2-Dimethylglutarate Complexes with a Flexible 1,4-bis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)-2,3,5,6-tetramethylbenzene

© 2020 Elsevier B.V.Five new coordination polymers, {[Co2(μ-dmg)2(μ-p-tmbix)2]⋅H2O}n (1), [Co2(μ-dmg)2(μ-p-tmbix)2]n (2), [Zn2(μ-dmg)2(μ-p-tmbix)2]n (3), [Cd(μ-dmg)(μ-p-tmbix)]n (4) and [Cd(μ-dmg)(μ-p-tmbix)]⋅H2O}n (5) were successfully synthesized by using H2dmg and p-tmbix ligands under hydrothermal conditions (p-tmbix = 1,4-bis(imidazol-1-ylmethyl)-2,3,5,6-tetramethylbenzene and H2dmg = 2,2-dimethylglutaric acid). Their structures were characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, elemental analyses, IR spectroscopy and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). Single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that compounds 1-4 displayed 3D frameworks and 2D network, respectively, while compound 5 exhibited two-fold interpenetrated 3D structure with 66-dia topology. Furthermore, luminescence properties and thermal analyses (TG, DTA and DTA) of the compounds were investigated.
