Özet

Core-shell magnetic nanoparticles are widely used in many applications due to their multifunctionality as a result of coating numerous different shells and combining core-shell materials with unique properties. This chapter provides a brief information about the magnetic behavior of magnetic nanoparticles and the types of core-shell nanoparticles. After giving information about the functionalization of magnetic nanoparticles, the synthesis of magnetic nanoparticles coated with different shell materials is explained with examples. Herein, various synthesis methods (i.e., micro-emulsion, hydrothermal, solvothermal, thermal decomposition, co-precipitation, seed-mediated growth, and layer-by-layer methods) and the advantages, disadvantages, and properties of these synthesis methods are compared. The use of core-shell magnetic nanoparticles prepared by using these methods in different applications is also presented.
