The purpose of this research is the evaluation of doctoral theses written in the field of science education in Turkey in the last five years according to specific criteria. Theses were examined and tried to be described in terms of specific criteria. For this reason, research has a descriptive feature. In the study, it was aimed to enlighten the researchers in the field of science education about the doctoral theses written in Turkey in recent years. It was required to set forth the qualifications of the investigated theses and for this purpose, the doctoral theses were evaluated by using Education Researches Evaluation Criteria Form developed by Karadag. The data obtained was analyzed within the scope of quantitative data by the frequency, percentage and mean scores. In this research, document analysis technique was used as qualitative research method and sampling of criteria was performed. In order to designate the sample group in the study, YOK (Council of Higher Education) National Thesis Center was searched for the key words such as science education, science, science and technology and 68 doctoral theses were reached with these key words. But, a total of 57 doctoral theses were included in the study sample since publication of 11 theses was obstructed by the authors. The doctoral theses were taken as the sample provided that they were written on the field of science education between the years 2006 and 2010. In this study, doctoral theses written in the field of science education in Turkey in the last five years were evaluated in terms of title, abstract, model, findings, conclusions, discussion and proposals. The average scores of these dimensions were obtained and the sources of error were identified. As a result of this research, it was determined that the presentation of the dimensions of writing headlines, the model used for research, findings, conclusions, discussion and recommendations were adequately fulfilled at high levels in the doctoral theses. However, the dimension of the thesis abstract was adequately fulfilled at intermediate level. It was recommended that the researchers include all parts of the thesis in the abstract part of the thesis. In addition, it was also recommended that the researchers concentrate their attention on the studies where a combination of two different models was used while they are writing their theses. © Sila Science.
