Digital communication systems use look-up table based signal generators for numerically controlled sinusoidal signal generation due to their stability and controllability. The quality of the generated waveforms depends not only the number of quantization levels but also the amount of memory assigned for the waveform samples. In this paper, a digital quadrature sinusoidal generator whose memory requirement is related not to the desired output quality but to the desired frequency resolution and the number of frequency steps is proposed. Generator is a recursive circuit that uses De Moivre trigonometric identity. Simulation results are given and compared to look-up table based signal generators.
