Özet

This article presents a leaky-wave antenna (LWA) utilizing a half-mode corrugated substrate integrated waveguide (HMCSIW), that enables beam-scanning in the sidefire direction while maintaining stable radiation characteristics. A vialess HMCSIW is employed as the transmission element, replacing the conventional vialed SIW to achieve simplified fabrication and enhanced performance. The LWA capability is attained by incorporating periodic rectangular rings along the rear side edges of the HMCSIW, while enhanced radiation and stable sidefire beam-scanning are achieved with the addition of circular rings to the front surface. The proposed antenna achieves beam-scanning across the frequency range of 13 GHz to 22.5 GHz, with a bandwidth of 53.5%. The antenna provides a measured stable gain between 9.8 and 10.7 dBi, with radiation efficiency varying from 74% to 81%, and a beam-scanning range from −35° to 35°. These results suggest that the proposed antenna is well suited for applications such as next-generation side-looking wireless imaging and spectrum analyzers due to its sidefire beam-scanning capability, high efficiency, and ease of fabrication.
