Abstract

The continuity and circumferential momentum equations are given for compressible flow in a stepped labyrinth seal. Periodic and analytic solutions of these equations are obtained for the case of time dependent flow generated by a nonaxisymmetric rotation of the rotor. Since it is necessary for the lateral stability analysis of the rotor, rotordynamic coefficients are then calculated. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
