Özet

Aim: The aim of the study was to evaluate the root canal shaping abilities of TruNatomy, WaveOne Gold, HyFlexEDM systems via Micro-CT.

Material and Methods: 45 extracted human mandibular molar teeth were used. The teeth were divided into 3 groups (n:15) according to the instrumentation system; Trunatomy (TRN), WaveOne Gold (WOG), and HyFlexEDM (HEDM). Before and after shaping, the teeth were scanned with the Micro-CT to analyze the shaping ability at 3, 5 and 7 mm from the apex. Statistical analysis was performed with the Kruskal-Wallis test and Bonferroni Dunn’s multiple comparison test using the SPSS 18.0 package program.

Results: TRN performed statistically less apical transportation than the WOG at 7 mm in the mesiodistal direction (p < 0.05). There was no significant difference between the groups at 3 and 5 mm in the mesiodistal direction (p > 0.05). There was no statistical difference between the groups regarding apical transportation
in the buccolingual direction at any root level (p > 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between the groups at any level in terms of the centering ability neither in the mesiodistal direction nor buccolingual direction (p > 0.05).

Conclusion: According to the results of this study, it can be concluded that the 3 file systems that evaluated have similar shaping abilities. None of the systems at any root level exceeded 0.3 mm, which is considered the transportation limit that may affect clinical prognosis.
